INSURANCE

Are your services covered?

Yes, I provide receipts for insurance purposes after each session. However, please note that it’s the client’s responsibility to confirm with their insurance provider whether their policy covers my services, which include individual therapy for adults and couples therapy.

FIRST SESSION

What should I expect from my first session?

Our first session will start with an informed consent process, where I’ll explain how therapy works, your rights and confidentiality, and answer any initial questions. From there, we’ll begin with an initial intake, which includes a biopsychosocial assessment. This assessment gives me a broad understanding of who you are—covering your history, current life situation, and mental health to tailor our work to your needs.

LOCATION

Where are you located?

I am based in Ottawa for in-person sessions, but I also offer virtual therapy sessions for those who prefer or require remote options.

APPROACH (INDIVIDUAL)

What therapeutic techniques do you use?

I take an integrative approach, meaning I draw from various therapeutic techniques to create a plan that best fits each client. My methods are chosen with you in mind, adapting as needed to meet your unique needs and goals.

APPROACH (COUPLES)

What therapeutic techniques do you use for couples therapy?

My work is rooted in the Gottman method, and I use some interventions from my other modalities. A typical structure for couples therapy starts with meeting the couple to know their relationship, followed by individual assessments (completed through the Gottman Institute's website) and one individual session with each. I then continue to work with the couple, beginning with discussing the findings from the assessments.   

SLIDING SCALE

Do you offer a sliding scale for fees?

I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots to make therapy more accessible. Please feel free to inquire about availability if cost is a concern.

STRUCTURE

How long is each session, and how often will we meet?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes, but you can book longer sessions. The frequency of sessions depends on your needs and availability, and we can discuss a schedule that feels right for you. I recommend starting with one session every week or two. The duration of our work depends on your goals and commitment. Ask for a consultation to discuss this further before starting your therapeutic journey. .

LANGUAGES

What languages can we use in my therapy?

My professional training is in English, so I predominantly use English in my sessions. Aside from English, I encourage you to use French and/or Arabic. It is important that you express yourself in the language you prefer.
